Anita Spiess, MD
We feel fortunate that Dr. Anita Spiess has chosen to return to her family connections in Arizona and join SEVG as one of just a handful of female gastroenterologists in the Southeast Valley. Dr. Spiess earned her MD from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, where she completed her fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology. She was most recently Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago School of Medicine while in practice at the NorthShore University HealthSystem. She treated a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings including endoscopic procedures, with a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Celiac Disease. Dr. Spiess sees both male and female patients and has additional extensive experience in understanding the special needs of female patients. In her free time, she enjoys reading and hiking with her husband and 2 sons. Dr. Spiess adds to the specialized expertise of SEVG and is dedicated to helping our community address the gap in the gastrointestinal care of female patients.
